PhD in Sciences, mention in Mathematics
The Doctoral Program in Sciences with a Mention in Mathematics is taught by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of the Universidad de La Frontera. The University constitutes an important pole of scientific-technological development in the Araucanía region and in the country within its responsibilities as a public institution.
The growing trajectory in the development of mathematics at the Universidad de La Frontera in recent years endorses this Doctoral Program, which has a body academic excellence, which is reflected by sustained research activity, which is recognized both nationally and internationally.
The absence of a Doctorate program in Sciences with a Major in Mathematics at the regional level forces many of the best graduates of the universities of Araucanía to continue their studies outside the region.
Based on these antecedents, added to the need to strengthen the IX Region as a pole of higher education at the national level, there is an interest in materializing This Doctoral Program in Sciences Major in Mathematics and which has, among others, the following purposes:
1.- Teach a Doctorate Program in Sciences with a Major in Mathematics, at the highest level, whose mission is to contribute to regional and national development by promoting and strengthening scientific research in mathematics.
2.- Contribute to regional and national development through the training of people with high levels of excellence, capable of creating new knowledge in the area of Mathematics, with skills to produce scientific innovations appropriate to the requirements demanded by Chile.
3.- Develop activities of institutional collaboration and exchange of academic, scientific, technical and cultural knowledge of mutual benefit.
